We tried Culver's Hot Honey Cheese Curds

Oct 17, 2024

APPLETON - Culver's is the latest fast-food restaurant to join the hot honey trend with the debut of its Hot Honey Cheese Curds.

Thanks to General Manager Chris Berry, at Culver's in Oshkosh, 1580 S. Koeller St., I got to try them ahead of the release date.

If you're like me, and a majority of Wisconsin residents, you love cheese curds, and the golden, crunchy curds at Culver's almost never disappoint.

Beginning on Oct. 15, National Cheese Curd Day, the Hot Honey Cheese Curds will be available at all Culver's locations nationwide.

The limited-time recipe offers the same signature Wisconsin cheese curds but with a crunchy, hot-honey breading.

When I first heard Culver's was joining the hot honey trend, I expected the curds to be tossed in a wet sauce. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they chose a flavored breading instead, foregoing the annoying sensation of sticky, saucy fingers.

The hot honey breading provides a good balance of sweet and spicy, neither flavor overpowering the other. The cheese adds a hint of saltiness that really brings the whole thing together.

Of course, in true Wisconsin fashion, I paired the curds with Culver's buttermilk ranch, which, in my opinion, is the perfect dipping sauce for fried curds. The same was true for the hot honey curds.

The new Hot Honey Cheese Curds are only available for a limited time, through Oct. 31 or while supplies last.
