Alabamians Can Expect Unsettled Weather Pattern to Start Sunday

May 24, 2023

Our area has experienced typical June weather. Saturday should shape up to be a mostly sunny day with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s.

Now, we are focused on an active and unsettled weather pattern that will start on Sunday and possibly last through next week.

This means there will be "showers and thunderstorms on most days," said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Alabamians should "expect stormy weather on Sunday, with some thunderstorms posing the threat of damaging wind gusts and large hail. Locally heavy rainfall is also possible which could lead to flooding."

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that the Storm Prediction Center has introduced a "slight risk" (level 2/5) of severe thunderstorms for the northwest corner of the state, with a "marginal risk" (level 1/5) down to Northport, Gardendale, and Centre."

We are monitoring weather conditions as this system tracks toward Alabama. We will provide needed updates.
